A poem for all you PPC marketers, based on The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. A little lightheartedness for the middle of the week. Enjoy!
Two keywords diverged in a search engine
And sorry I could not bid on both
And be one PPC marketer, long I stood
And researched one as well I could
To where it spiked in my analytics quotes
Then I took the other, just as fair
And having perhaps the better traction
Because it was relevant and warranted clicks
Though as for that the clicking there
Had converted them with similar action
And both that morning equally ranked
In sponsored links no click had coloured black
Oh, I kept the first for another campaign!
Yet knowing how testing leads on to change
I doubted if I should ever have the knack
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two keywords diverged in a search engine, and I—
I took the one less bid upon,
And that has made all the difference
