Who’s the Guv’nor?

Fabio Capello resigned as England manager Wednesday, telling Italian media that he thought he had been insulted by the English board.

This comes in the wake of the John Terry scandal where Capello made it quite clear that he saw Terry as his captain with the FA thinking otherwise.

In an amazing turnaround Harry Redknapp, the Spurs manager, is now ahead in the running for the England manager role.

Redknapp, 64, walked out of Court acquitted of tax- evasion several hours before Capello’s resignation and straight into the betting at odds of 1-3.

Redknapp is clearly the fans’ favourite and some of the current England players agree. Wayne Rooney tweeted “Gutted capello has quit. Good guy and top coach. Got to be English to replace him. Harry redknapp for me.”

Stan Collymore, the ex-England, Liverpool, and Aston Villa player, also gushed his praise for Redknapp on his Talksport radio show in London. He later Tweeted about the current crop of England internationals: “Told you players would start to come out in support of Harry . . . The seniors in particular.”

Other names bandied about for the role include Alan Pardrew, Gus Hiddink, Roy Hodgson, and Jose Mourinho.

Even the Anfield Cat has got odds of 5000-1!

Who do you feel should be England Manager and why?

With Euro 2012 at the doorstep, should the new manager be British, someone who has an affinity for the role and the passion required to bring long sought-after glory?

Or do the Brits lack the technical skills needed to get England through?

Just who is the Guv’ nor?
