Today we are proud to welcome a guest blog entry from David Merry, Program Director at CasinoAffiliates.com. David will be sharing his expert insight on how to optimise live casino traffic. Enjoy!
Throughout my years working as both an affiliate and an affiliate manager, I have noticed that a consistent source of discussion amongst webmasters is the certainty that some affiliates have in saying that live casino brands don’t convert as well on their websites as RNG brands. This always surprises me, because I know first-hand how well the traffic can be converted if it is funnelled and treated correctly, which is why I’ve always debated the subject when it has arisen.
You may be thinking that you’re happy and content without live casinos, but before you reach for the cross in the top-right corner I’ll give you 3 quick reasons why you should care about live traffic:
- Players are searching for live casinos. The terms ‘live casino’ and ‘live roulette’ alone are searched for 13,500 times every month. If they want it, it is your job to provide it!
- It isn’t all hype anymore. A lot of crazes come and go in this industry; however, since 2006 the keyword ‘live casino’, according to Google Trends, has been as stable as the highly sought keyword ‘casino bonus’. Does 6 years sound like a passing trend to you?
- The player value is huge! Last year, the average player value for our affiliates was approximately £512, and as an affiliate I know that this is similar between most live operators. Can your RNG casino provide that?

Now it’s time for business. Let’s look at ways that you can increase your live casino conversions and make the niche as successful for you as it has been for others. The 5 tips I’ve given below are all characteristics that I’ve found most successful live affiliates share.
Choose the right creatives
Arguably the most obvious, yet also the most common, piece of advice. Many affiliates add in a live dealer page, write some good content, and then add some standard creatives that don’t even advertise the main selling point of live casinos: the dealers. Nearly every program has live dealer banners now, make sure you find them and get them live, otherwise your click through rate is going to be affected or you could simply mis-selling your visitors.
Make sure your links go to the live dealer page
While again this is bordering on the obvious, it still seems to be a common mistake, and one I’ve even made several times on my affiliate sites. You’ve done all of the work, added in all of the correct banners, and written some quality content, but your links go directly to the RNG section of the site. If you’re talking about live casinos, make sure that your links go directly to the operator page which is going to convert. Sending your visitors to the wrong page makes them work when you should be making the process as simple as possible.
List the benefits
Throughout the last 6 years, the live industry has transformed the way that millions play casino games online. Your role as a salesman of your site’s listed operators is to tell the average player on the street that may not realise it yet what pros there are to playing live. This includes the following and many more:
- The results are more transparent, you can see the cards being dealt, the wheel being spun etc. With RNG casinos you trust a computer algorithm.
- You can interact directly with the dealer, adding an element of realism and familiarity with the dealer team.
- You can speak to other players at the table through the live chat function.
- It’s generally more exciting; with live casino games you are going live against a dealer and other players across the world rather than an image created by a designer.
Use video content
The primary draw to live dealer casinos is the video function, being able to watch a dealer from across the world and gamble using the pre-designed interface. So what more can sell the product on your site than a video of the game in action? Plenty of live casino programs will be more than happy to provide you video content. If not, with a free program like CamStudio you can have one made up in minutes.
Get dealer images
Another huge selling point behind the live dealer phenomenon are the dealer teams that operate the tables. Players naturally want to know who they will be talking to and playing with for the next few hours, and if they don’t know what a live casino is, then a picture is worth a 1000 words. Just look at the image heading this article. Once again, your program should be able to provide you with these easily. If they can’t, then reach in and grab them directly.
The one thing you’ll notice that all 5 points have in common is visualization. All 5 paint the picture of the casino and what to expect before the user has clicked through. This will not only make sure that visitors who are familiar with live casinos are given a concise and accurate picture of what to expect at the new casino they are looking for but will also provide information for people who don’t know what a live casino is yet, letting them make an informed decision before they click through and you lose the player forever. Adding a brand in your mix and expecting users to know what it is isn’t enough, use the above tips to portray how live casinos work and you can’t go wrong.
